a. 連接對等的單詞、短語和從句

　　單詞：

　　短語：

　　從句：

He was fired not only because he was lazy but because he failed to meet my requirements.

b. 連接對等的句子，由於not only 置於句首，視爲否定副詞，第一個句子倒裝。But also 僅爲連接詞，故其後的第二個句子不需要倒裝，但also則一定要省略，或移到句中。也可以將also省略後而在句尾處加as well。
