如何攻破雅思閱讀的考生弱點

1、不要試圖讀懂每個詞

Don’t expect to understand every word

平常練習時，不認識的詞要都查清意思~Many of my students have been taught to look up every word in a dictionary they don’t understand in a dictionary. 雖然詞彙量很重要，但還要練習猜生詞的能力The theory behind this is good, a wide vocabulary is key to getting a good score in the IELTS test, but worrying about all the words you don’t understand in the reading exam is one of the worst things you can do.

如果遇到生詞，考生可以做這樣做~If you don’t understand a word in the reading test there are two things you can do.通過前後文猜詞，猜不出就跳過~You can look at the words and sentences around it for cluesas to its meaning or you can move on and forget about it. You don’t have to understand the meaning of every word.即使是母語爲英語的人，也會有遇到生詞的情況~Even native speakers- and many IELTS teachers- would not be able to understand all the words in the reading test.

2、練習閱讀能力，而不僅僅是雅思能力，不要本末倒置

Practice your reading skills NOT your IELTS skills

瞭解熟悉雅思閱讀的文章類型、題型，並培養題感是很重要的~It is important to familiarise yourself with the IELTS reading test, IELTS reading tips and gain an understanding of the various questions.總結自己的錯誤，並從中吸取經驗~It is also important to learn from your mistakes. However, students who just practice IELTS exams are missing out on a good opportunity to improve their general reading skills.建議考生根據自己的興趣，多讀讀《The eonomist》《Time》等雜誌~IELTS reading texts can be a little boring and you are more likely to read regularly if you read about something you are interested in.閱讀量的積累會提高英語能力，尤其是詞彙量和語感~Reading for pleasure a little every day will not only improve your English skills but also improve your vocabulary.

3、認真讀題目說明

Read the instructions VERY carefully

很多簡單題丟分是因爲沒有仔細讀題目說明、沒有仔細讀題~So many easy marks are lost by good IELTS candidates because they fail to read the instructions properly.雅思閱讀和聽力中讀題尤爲重要，因爲題目要求比較具體~This is especially true in the reading and listening tests because they give very specific instructions. If you don’t follow these instructions exactly, you will get the question wrong.

比如，有的題中寫到“填寫不超過三個詞”~For example, the instructions might state ‘write no more than three words’.

還要小心冠詞也算一個詞~Finally, one word only means just one word. We should, therefore, be very careful with articles like ‘a’ and ‘an’. For example, the text might say ‘an earthquake’, but if it asks for one word simply write ‘earthquake’. ‘An earthquake’ is two words and is therefore wrong.

4、考場上不要慌張

Don’t panic

一些題會比較簡單，還有一些題會非常難~Some of the questions will be easy and some will be extremely difficult.遇到超難題時不要慌張，留意時間、儘快定位、不要空着~The key is not to panic when trying to answer a difficult one.

不要因爲難題而耽誤了回答簡單題~The wrong thing to do is spend a large amount of time on a question and fail to spend enough time on the rest of the questions.如果連定位都有困難，就先跳過~If the answer does not present itself, move on to the next.跳過的好處就是，在回答其他題時可以熟悉文章，方便之後找答案~You can always come back to the difficult questions later and answering the other questions will often help you.
