一般過去將來時的其他用法

之前我們解析了一般過去將來時的基本形式的用法。其實還有其他的方式可以用於一般過去將來時。

1、was/were about to do表示“即將、正要”。
例句：

（1）Soon our season was over and I was about to move. 很快的，我們的學期要結束了，我即將搬走了。

（2）I was about to argue with him, but then I realized that he was right. 我準備和他理論，但是後來我意識到他的話有道理。

（3）He was about to be transferred to a seaside town. 他正要被調往一座海濱小城。

2、was/were due to do 決定好了要做某事
例句：

（1）The meeting was due to last for a week. 這個會議計劃要舉行一星期。

（2）She was due to leave for another city at 8 o'clock. 她計劃在8點前往另一個城市。

3、was/were to do 表示曾經計劃要做某事，如果沒有實現，要用不定時完成時。
例句：

（1）I would be very happy if one or more of them were to decide to come and live in China. 如果他們中有一兩個或全都要決定回來住在中國，那我是很高興的。

（2）She said she was to travel. 她說她要去旅行。

（3）She said she was to have met Jack, but they missed. 她說她原本打算去見傑克，但是他們錯過了。

4、was/were on the point of doing 表示正要……的時候
例句：

（1）He was on the point of writing letters when I called him. 我給他打電話的時候他正要寫信。

（2）The employee was on the point of quitting his job. 這名員工即將停止他的工作。

（3）He was on the point of saying something when a young woman started to speak. 他正要張嘴，一個年輕婦女搶先說了。
