環境保護部發布五項汙染物排放新標準

China issued five new standards to limit some major pollutants, which are expected to cut industrial discharges by more than half.

我國近日釋出了限制部分主要汙染物的5項新標準，新標準有望使得工業排放量下降一半以上。

The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued the documents, which included emission caps for ship engines, motorcycles and hybrid electric cars as well as limits on discharges from caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) industries, the MEP said in a statement Tuesday.

環保部週二釋出宣告稱，該部門與國家質檢總局日前釋出了上述新標準，內容包括船舶發動機、摩托車、混合動力電動汽車汙染物，以及燒鹼、聚氯乙烯工業汙染物排放限值。

Compared with the current standards, discharges of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in waste water, particulate matter in exhaust gas, chloroethylene and non-methane hydrocarbon will be slashed by 77 percent, 51 percent, 72 percent and 58 percent, respectively, under the new standards, the statement said.

宣告稱，與現行標準相比，根據新標準，廢水化學需氧量、廢氣顆粒物、氯乙烯、非甲烷總烴排放量將分別削減77%、51%、72%、58%。

The statement said the new standards are part of measures to implement the action plans on air and water pollution prevention and control.

新標準是貫徹落實大氣汙染、水汙染防治行動計劃的部分舉措。

They are also expected to stimulate industrial transformation and upgrading, it said.

該宣告指出，這一新標準還有望促進產業轉型升級。
