China won the championship title at the eighth World Sudoku Championship on October 15th in Beijing. It is a breakthrough for the Chinese team, and China is expected to one day become a major force in sudoku competition.

文中的sudoku就是“數獨”的意思。數獨又稱“九宮格數獨”，源自18世紀末的瑞士，後在美國發展，並在日本得以發揚光大。數獨在一個由九橫行(row)、九縱列(column)構成的九宮格(grid)中進行遊戲，每三行、三列相交構成的叫做小九宮(block)。玩家根據一些已知的提示數(clue)完成數獨，要求每一行、每一列和每個小九宮內的數字都爲1~9且不重複。
