　　worth的用法

1. 後接動詞時，該動詞要用動名詞，不能用不定式，並且該動名詞習慣上要用主動形式表示被動意義，不能直接使用被動式，如可說：

The film isn’t worth seeing. 但不能說：

The film is worth being seen. 注意，雖然be worth後接動詞要用動名詞，但在It’s worth (one’s) while後卻可接動名詞也可接不定式。

2. 在現代英語中，在be worth前使用形式主語it被認爲是合習慣的：

It isn’t worth repairing the car. 這輛汽車不值得修了。

Is it worth visiting the city? 這個城市值得去看嗎?但是，若不用形式主語it而直接用動名詞作主語則是錯誤的，如不能說：

Repairing the car is worth.

3. 在be worth doing結構中，除非句首用了形式主語it，句子主語總應是其後動名詞的邏輯賓語;若其中的動詞不及物，應考慮加上適當的介詞：

Nothing he said was worth listening to. 他說的話沒有一句值得聽。

She’s not worth getting angry with. 犯不上跟她生氣。

4. 若要加強其語氣，可在其前使用well, really, very much等修飾語，但習慣上不用very：

It was well worth waiting for. 這件事倒是很值得等待。

The book is really worth reading. 這本書確實值得一看。

He has something very much worth saying. 他有些話很值得講。
