一、下面我們來看看article有幾種含義

1.文章，論文 [C]

He made minor alterations to the article at the guidance of the teacher.

他在老師的指導下對這篇論文作了小規模的修改。

2.條款，條文，項目；見習契約 [C]

Article 180 states that one third of the members must be women.

第180條規定，三分之一的成員必須爲女性。

3.物品，物件 [C]

He had stripped the house of all articles of value.

他把房間裏值錢的東西洗劫一空。

4.【語】冠詞 [C]

The article is often mitted for the sake of brevity.

人們往往是爲了簡潔而省略冠詞。

5.進行控告，提出罪狀

He shall be articled against in the high court of admiralty.

他將在海事高等法院被控告。

6.定約僱用，訂約將…收爲學徒或見習生

I am articled to a firm of lawyers.

我受僱在一家律師公司做見習生。

7.簽訂協議，以協議（或契約）約束

He articled with her that he should go away.

他與她約定，他必須離去。

二、詞義辨析：哪些詞含有相同含義呢？

composition, article, essay, paper, prose, thesis, theme, dissertation這些名詞均含“文章”或“論文”之意。

composition多指學校里老師給學生的作文練習。

article多指在報刊、雜誌上發表的非文藝性的文章，包括新聞報導、學術論文等。

essay指任何一種非小說性的，篇幅不長、結構簡練的文章，如論說文、報道、評論、諷刺性雜文等。

paper正式用詞，多指在學術刊物上發表或在學術會議上宣讀的專題論文，也指高等學校的學期論文，或學校裏的作文練習。

prose專指散文。

thesis既可指畢業論文、學位論文，又可指一般的爲闡述學術觀點而寫的論文。

theme一般指大學或高中生作爲作業所寫的篇幅有限、較完整論述某個觀點的文章。也可指作品或談話的主要論題。

dissertation書面語用詞，指獨立研究後所寫的較爲詳細的專題文章；也可指學位論文。
