在狀語從句中，如果狀語在句首，則句首的狀語一般用升調
發音舉例
After ↗ dinner , I’ll go for a walk.
晚飯後，我要去散步。
Seen from a ↗ distance , the farmhouse looked deserted.
遠遠看來，這個農舍顯得好荒涼。
If I have a ↗ holiday , I will travel.
如果我有假期的話，我就要去旅遊。
While John was watching ↗ TV , his wife was cooking.
約翰在看電視，而他的妻子在做飯。
When I walked into the ↗ room , the telephone rang.
我走進屋子的時候，電話響了。
說話者需要強調的，則用降調↘。

↗Frankly , he’d like to listen to music.
坦白地講，他喜歡聽音樂。
To tell you the↗truth , he doesn’t quite agree with this idea.
跟你說實話，他不太同意這一看法。
