本期英語君要和大家分享的電影是《He’s Just Not That Into You》(他只是沒那麼喜歡你)。
1. work out
A girl will never forget the first boy she likes, even if things don’t quite work out.
We are trying to work out that difficult math problem.
We should work out regularly to keep fit.
My new job didn’t work out very well.
2. get a crush on
That little boy is doing those terrible things because he’s got a crush on you.
Notes: “get a crush on”這個短語在愛情影片中經常出現,“crush”在這裏的意思是迷戀。
He got a crush on his neighbour, an elegant lady.
3. grab a late bite
- Hey, it’s me. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you.
- Oh,that’s very sweet of you, Conor. Thanks.
- Listen. I was wondering if you wanted to grab a late bite.
I grab a late bite with my colleagues after work.
4. burn out
Tonight?I … No. I was supposed to meet friends but I’m really burnt out. Don't be mad at me.
The fire burnt out very quickly.
You’ll burn yourself out if you keep working so hard.
5. mull over
No,technically I have six and I’m mulling over a gum purchase, so I think you should go.
We need some time to mull it over and decide if we really need the product.
6. swing by
I just was actually in the area and so I just figured I’d swing by and see if he was around.
I’ll swing by the Chinese Restaurant today. Would you like any take-out there?
