考生從培訓到考試的階段應控制在一到二個月。短了可能複習不充分，容易緊張焦慮;長了可能效率低下、懶惰拖沓，正如趁熱打鐵，口語複習也應在短期內一步到位，一舉攻破口語重點，在考試前持清醒。
當然，除了把握時間，還應將時間量化，具體落實到每一小時。考生每天都應拿出一定的時間進行訓練，堅持"貪多嚼不爛"的原則，根據個人能力選擇時間，建議在一到兩小時。因爲口試和其他項目不同，是考生和考官互動，因此在自我演練的時候應該按照考試流程練習。考生可根據教材上面的答案來評判自身的差距。答案應該注意"踩點"原則，將話題的重點作爲回答的得分點。
下面實例講述複習時間的方法。口語話題可以分爲基本情況介紹，精分一下則可以擴展至大約二十個。因此如果把複習時間定爲一個月，把話題一共複習兩遍的話，那麼基本上一天覆習兩個話題。每個話題花一小時，一天用兩小時練口語。
至於得分點，比如看到選擇專業的原因，一般參考答案會說自己比較感興趣。雖然理論上講口語沒有什麼參考答案，但是對基礎一般的考生而言，這對能一招制勝且不露痕跡，在短時期使考生突破口試。
