a person or thing will not continue to live, exist or be successful for much longer (指人)死期不遠了,得意的日子屈指可數了;(指物)用不了多久了,壽命不長了

His days as leader of the party are numbered. 他作爲黨的領袖的日子已屈指可數了.

to no longer be successful, powerful, etc. 得意之時已過;風光不再;日漸衰敗

She's had her day as a supermodel. 她作爲超級模特兒的輝煌日子已一去不復返.

used when several unfortunate or unpleasant things happen on the same day 禍不單行;特別倒黴的一天

My car broke down and then I locked myself out─it's just not my day! 我的汽車拋錨了,我又沒帶房門鑰匙---真是禍不單行!
