本單元主要是運用should, could這兩個情態動詞來解答同學們在生活中遇到的問題，給出相關的建議。
我們來複習一下情態動詞的相關用法：情態動詞的詞義並不完整，不能單獨做謂語，兩個情態動詞也不能連用，後面必須連接實義動詞原形來一同做謂語。情態動詞表示說話人對動作或事物的態度和看法，如可能，應該或必要等等。情態動詞通常沒有人稱和數的變化形式，否定形式是在情態動詞後面加not, 疑問形式是將情態動詞提前。should是“應該，應當”的意思，could是“可以，可能”的意思。
肯定形式：
You should save water.
He could talk with your friends.
否定形式：
You shouldn't stay at home for a long time.
You couldn't play computer games again.
疑問形式：
Should I leave now?
Could you please help me?
可用短語：
keep out, call sb. up, on the phone, pay for, the same as, in style, out of style, get on, as ... as possible, all kinds of, on the other hand, find out
重要句子：

b. 本體裁的寫作指導：
本文任務要求先讀一篇電子郵件，然後根據電子郵件的內容再回復一封，這樣的難度較單純寫一封電子郵件要難許多，因爲要對材料中的內容有準確的反饋。
讓我們來一同瞭解一下電子郵件的寫法吧!
電子郵件的出現滿足人們快捷通訊的需要，我們可將電子郵件看成是信件的一種，但是它又與手寫的信有所區別。
(1)電子郵件要寫收信人的地址和信件的主題。收信人的電子郵件地址要寫在“收信人(To)”框中，主題(Subject)是將電子郵件內容用一個詞，幾個詞或一句話加以概括，好的主題應簡明地概括電子郵件的內容，讓人一目瞭然，吸引讀電子郵件的人首先閱讀。
(2)稱呼和普通英文書信一樣要取決於通信雙方的親密程度。
(3)正文和寫英文書信相差不多，都要在稱呼的下一行，但電子郵件可以頂格寫，也可空出3到5個字母。另外，最好用問候語來開始郵件正文的內容，這樣會讓人讀起來很親切。常用的問候語有很多種，可以根據需要來選擇。
正文要簡潔明瞭，讓人很快地讀懂你的想法。重要的一點是，同學們必須根據提示內容將電子郵件的要點寫全，並注意詞語和句式的選用。而如果是回覆電子郵件，我們要將其中所提的問題一一解答清楚，而不要有所遺漏。
(4)在正文的後面可以寫上祝福語或者表達我們的心願。如：I'm looking forward to hearing from you. / Please write to me soon. / Best wishes to you and your parents. / Good luck to you. / Take good care of yourself.
(5)最後的結束語和簽名也分兩行頂格寫。這都屬於電子郵件的特殊之處。
c. 習作的評價與商榷的意見：
上面的習作符合電子郵件的格式，全文內容通順流暢。對於這樣的給材料作文，小作者一一回答了材料中所提到的問題，寫出了自己對於朋友真誠的建議，並做了適當的發揮。不過美中不足的是由於缺少過渡性的詞語，文章顯得有點亂。另外，文中還有幾處要值得商榷之處。
(1)此句涉及到主謂一致的情況，做主語的是our friends and I，應視爲複數，所以am應改爲are。
(2)此句的詞組爲borrow sth. from sb.(從某人那借某物)，所以此處的to應改爲from。
(3)各別句子過長，過於複雜，不利於閱讀，可適當地變成幾個短句子。
(4)雖然本電子郵件回答了材料中所提到的問題，但是如果添加幾個過渡詞會文章會顯得更有條理。
