楊冪出生於北京市宣武區(已併入新的北京市西城區) ，父親楊曉林是民警 ，母親楊春玲是專職的家庭主婦 。因爲一家三口都姓楊，也就是“楊”的3次方(數學中乘方的結果叫做冪)，所以給她起名楊冪 。
