故事發生在多米尼克(範·迪塞爾 Vin Diesel 飾)和布萊恩(保羅·沃克 Paul Walker 飾)重獲自由一年多後，他們擺脫暗無天日的亡命生活，卻發現這個家脫離現實。多米尼克忙着和萊蒂(米歇爾·羅德里格茲 Michelle Rodriguez 飾)重新培養感情，布萊恩則努力跟米婭(喬丹娜·布魯斯特 Jordana Brewster 飾)和兒子適應郊區生活，泰吉(盧達·克里斯 Ludacris 飾)和羅曼(泰瑞斯·吉布森 Tyrese Gibson 飾)倒是實現花花公子的夢想，大肆慶祝得來不易的自由。

《速度與激情》系列已經拍攝了15年，是新千年影片中壽命最長的一部。《速度與激情7》的拍攝，是這些影片中最困難的一部。2013年11月30日，整個《速度與激情》系列的主演，好萊塢動作明星保羅·沃克因爲車禍意外身亡。隨後，《速度與激情7》的拍攝工作便被叫停，直到四月才重新開機。
此部中伊恩·肖(傑森·斯坦森飾演)是《速度與激情6》中大反派歐文·肖(盧克·伊萬斯飾演)的哥哥，他殺死了韓(姜成鎬飾演)，同時向飛車家族發出了復仇宣言。飛車家族們將與伊恩·肖展開以牙還牙的較量。
影片於4月12日上映。原聲帶中將請到Kid Ink、Tyga、Wale、YG、Rich Homie Quan、Iggy Azalea、Skylar Grey、T.I.、David Guetta等加盟。
