巴西和“亞馬遜”這個名字總是分不開。亞馬遜雨林和其中的亞馬遜河都已經成了巴西的名片。

這片雨林是全球最大的雨林，被稱爲“地球之肺”，這條河也是全球最大的河，按每秒流進海里的水來算，後面6大河加起來也趕不上亞馬遜河。

The Amazon River, over half of which lies within Brazil, is the world’s largest by volume. It is 3,977 miles (6,400 km) long and during the wet season it can become over 118 miles (190 km) wide. Around 209,000 cubic metres per second flow into the Atlantic Ocean – more than the next seven largest rivers combined and enough to fill Lake Baikal – the world’s deepest lake – in less than four years.

亞馬遜河的大半位於巴西境內，它是世界上流量最大的河流。亞馬遜河長達3977英里（6400公里），在雨季其寬度可能會超過118英里（190公里）。亞馬遜河每秒流入大西洋的水量約爲20.9萬立方米，比緊隨其後的七條大河每秒流入大西洋的總水量還要多，而且亞馬遜河不用四年就足以把世界上最深的湖——貝加爾湖填滿。
