The Mid-Autumn Festival is a very important Chinese festival. It falls onthe 15th day of August. A few days before the festival, everyone in the familywill help to make the house clean and beautiful. Lanterns will be hung in frontof the house.

On the evening there will be a big family dinner. People who work far awayfrom their homes will try to come back for the union. After dinner, people willlight the lanterns which are usually red and round. Children will play withtheir own toy lanterns happily.

At night the moon is usually round and bright. People can enjoy the moonwhile eating moon-cakes which are the special food for this festival. They canlook back on the past and look forward to the future together. It is said thatthere was a dragon in the sky. The dragon wanted to swallow up the moon. Toprotect the frighten the dragon away.

中秋節是中國一個很重要的節日,在八月十五號。在節日來臨的前幾天,家庭中的每一個人都幫着打掃房子,把房子裝扮得漂漂亮亮的,燈籠掛在屋前。

晚上有一頓美餐,離家在外工作的人也要回來團圓。晚飯後,人們點亮燈籠,一般是紅色的圓燈籠。孩子們會高高興興地玩他們的玩具燈籠。

晚上月亮又圓又大,人們在賞月的同時吃着中秋節特別的食品——月餅。人們在一起回顧過去,展望未來。據說天上有一條龍,它要把月亮吞下去。爲了保護月亮,孩子們要弄出很大的響動把龍嚇跑。

When the mid-autumn festival is near, shop windows are beautifullydecorated。 many "moon cakes" are displayed for people to buy。 people sendpresents such aswine, fruits and "moon cakes" to their friends and relatives。 inthe evening of the day, they have a feast。 after the feast, they go out to thegarden to look at the moon。 the children run and laugh on the streets。

It is believed that the moon is at her brightest on this night。 many poemshave been written about it, and poets are never tired of reading and writingsuch poems。 in chinese literature, the moon of the mid autumn festival has beenpared to a looking-glass, a jade rabbit, and so on。 it seems that chineseliterature takes far more interest in the moon than in the sun。

Our Chinese will celebrate it on that day. I think there arenot too many people can reject he temptation of it. I like this festival verymuch. I have two reasons.

中秋節在中國是一個特殊的節日,是中國的傳統節日。中秋節是每年農曆的八月十五號。我們中國人會慶祝那一天。我覺得沒有多少人可以拒絕它的誘惑。我很喜歡這個節日。我有兩個理由。

First of all, mid-autumn has the deep meaning of reunite. In china, peopleregard mid-autumn day as very important, so no matter where they are, they willcome back to their family if there is a chance. They don’t like celebrate thisfestival outside, which will make them feel lonely. Thus, they will go home byall means. Luckily, the government also pays great attention to this traditionalfestival. There are laws to make sure people have holidays in that special day.In the other word, mid-autumn festival gives a chance for family gettogether.

首先,中秋節的深層含義是團聚。在中國,人們把中秋節看得很重,所以無論他們在哪裏,如果有機會的話他們都會回到他們家人身邊。他們不喜歡在外面慶祝這一節日,這會讓他們感到孤獨。因此,他們會竭盡全力回家。幸運的是,政府也非常重視這一傳統節日。所以法律規定在這特別的日子裏會放假。換句話來說,中秋節爲家人團聚提供了機會。

Secondly, every family will prepare a big meal in that day. All the food isdelicious. It is good to have a big meal. I think nobody will not interest indelicious food. The mooncake is a necessary decoration for mid-autumn day. Ittastes good, too. It is the traditional for a long time. How pleased to enjoythe glorious full moon with mooncake!

In China, Mid-autumn Day is considered to be a symbol of family reunion。 Onthis day, all the family members gather together at home to celebrate thisspecial occasion。 Last year, I could not celebrate the festival with my familybecause I was in university。 However, this special day left a deep impression onme。

I still remember the atmosphere of that evening。 All the students who couldnot go back home assembled in our classroom, having a party to celebrate thistraditional festival。 We tried our best to show our own enthusiasm。 As an ethnicminority, I performed a peacock dance, which received warm applause。 After thetwo-hour party, we went out to the playground and sat together to appreciate themoon because it is a tradition on Mid-autumn Day。 We ate moon cakes, playedcards, and listened to romantic poems recited by one of our classmates。 In thatharmonious atmosphere, nobody felt lonely or homesick even though we were faraway from our homes.

Thanks to our classmates, I experienced such a colorful and interestingMid-autumn Day at my university。 Thus, I learned to value all the festivals Ispent during my university life。
