範文

Dear my president,

I am one of the senior students of our university and I am writing to provide some conducive suggestions on how to improve the students’ physical condition.

In general, my suggestions can be listed as follows. First of all, the students should be offered more time to take part in the physical exercises regularly, even if under the great pressure from the academic study. In addition, if possible, our university can establish more body-building facilities on campus so as to enhance the physical conditions of the students.

I hope you will find these proposals constructive and I also hope that you will take mysuggestions into a careful consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Li Ming

Directions:Write an essay of 160-200 words based on the following drawing. In your essay, you should

1) describe the drawing briefly.

2) interpret its intended meaning ,and

3) give your comments.

You should write neatly on the ANSWER SHEET. (20points)

範文:

As is vividly depicted in the left part of the drawing, thirty years ago, a beautiful young mother was holding her daughter’s hand, with a happy smile on the face. However, the right part of the picture illustrates that, with the time passing by, the little girl, who has already grown into a young lady, is supporting her aged mother. The caption below the picture reads like this, “Staying forever this way.”

It goes without saying that parents contribute a lot to the cultivation of the children. The growth and progress of children are all immersed with their parents’ dedication and love. As the time passes by, children have become robust

grown-ups while parents are getting weak and feeble. As a responsible young man,we should know this is the very moment to repay what parents did for us. That is to say, we should try every means to care our aged parents. Only in this way can we have the inner peace of the mind. In a word, we should spare no efforts to advocate the traditional Chinese culture of respecting the old and caring the young and fulfill our responsibility of attending to the old people.

As far as the young generation is concerned, we should identify our responsibilities in different phases of life and keep in good company with our parents. That is to say, no matter how busy we are, we should spare some time to accompany parents, help them escape from loneliness and listen to their inner voice. Only in this way will a harmonious society be just around the corner.

範文:

Dear John,

As a student from China who will share an apartment with you in the new semester, I am writing to tell you something about my living habits so that we will have a more harmonious living atmosphere.

First of all, I have developed a habit of early to bed and early to rise and I don’t like stayingup late. Besides, I hope our room is clean and tidy, which enables us to be in a good mood. Lastly, I don’t want strangers to visit our dorm frequently because it will bring us much inconvenience. By the way, I am wondering whether you can tell me something about the campus life in your university and how I can adapt to the campus life as soon as possible.

I am looking forward to your reply.

Sincerely Yours,

Li Ming
