among與between用法比較
among between爲近義詞，皆可表示“在……之間”，但用法大不相同，現歸納比較如下：
一、among一般用於三者或三者以上的“在……中間”，其賓語通常是一個表示籠統數量或具有複數意義的名詞或代詞。
His house is hidden among the trees.
他的房子隱藏在樹林之中。
She sat among the children.
她坐在孩子們中間。
二、把兩者以上的爲數不多的人或事物單獨地看待，用and連接時，要用between;把兩者以上的人或事物看成一羣、一堆或一組而不是個體時，要用among。
Switzerland lies between France,Italy,Austria and Germany.
瑞士位於法國、意大利、奧地利和德國之間。
The old man’s cottage lies among the trees.
老人的小木屋在樹林中。
三、between一般指兩者之間，其賓語往往是一個具體數目的人(物)，或者是由and連接的兩個具體的人(物)。
There was a fight between the two boys.
這兩個男孩間發生了一場格鬥。
I am sitting between my parents.
我正坐在我父母中間。
四、between也可用於三者以上的事物之間，強調一物與數物之 間的關係。
The small village lies between the three mountains.
小村莊位於三座大山之間。
I saw something lying between the wheels of the train.
我看見火車輪子之間有什麼東西。
五、涉及人或事物之間的區別以及人或事物之間的關係時，一般要用between。
We must find out the difference between the three companies.
我們必須查清這三家公司之間的區別。
The relations between various countries are very important.
各國之間的關係是很重要的。
六、表示“由於……合作的結果”時，要用between。
Between them they landed the fish.
他們協力把魚拖上了岸。
Between the five companies the project was soon completed.
在五家公司的齊心協力下，這項工程不久就完成了。
七、當and連接三者或三者以上的人(物)而仍然強調兩者的並列時，常用between。
The hospital lies between a river and hills.
醫院坐落在一條河與羣山之間。
The park lies between a road and the woods.
公園位於一條馬路與樹林之間。
八、在divide,share等表示“分享”之類的動詞之後。若接一個表示三者或三者以上的複數名詞時，用among或between均可。
The father divided his money among/between his three sons。
父親把錢分給了三個兒子。
The bed-room is shared between/among the six students.
臥室由六個學生共同享用。
九、between ourselves意爲“只限於咱倆之間(不得外傳)”，be-tween the lines意爲“字裏行間”，far between意爲“稀少”，in be-tween意爲“在中間、每間隔”，between two fires意爲“進退維谷、左右爲難”。

十、from among意爲“從……中”，one among a thousand 意爲“千里挑一的人、罕見，優秀的人”，among+the first/last或最高級形容詞時，意爲“one of…”。
The chairman of the labour union will be chosen from among itsmembers.
工會主席將從會員中選出。
He is one among a thousand in the field of music.
他是音樂界罕見的優秀人才。
China is among the largest countries in the world.
中國是世界上最大的國家之一。
