換句話說就是：Since this thing or person exsits in this world, it or he must have some value.既然這個事物或人存在，它肯定有自己的價值。

· 困難坎坷是人們的生活教科書。

換句話說就是：The hard conditions or facts of life can enrich human beings' experiences.
人生中困難的處境可以豐富人的生活閱歷。

· 失敗乃成功之母。

換句話說就是：Learn from mistakes, and you will gain the last victory.從失敗中吸取教訓，你將會獲得最終的成功。mother在這裏並不是傳統意義上的"a female parent of a child or animal",而是指“ basis基礎，cornerstone奠基石”。

man is man and master of his fate.
· 人就是人，是自己命運的主人。

for 的用法很多，其中做介詞時的意思較多。 它也可以做連詞，與另一個句子用逗號分開。意思是因爲。如：He was glad to go,for the hostess had been especially good to him.
他喜歡去，因爲女主人一向對他特別好。

unexamined life is not worth living. -- Socrates
· 混混噩噩的生活不值得過。 -- 蘇格拉底

這句話是蘇格拉底在公元前399年對雅典法庭的陪審團說的，蘇格拉底當時因信奉異教和有煽動叛亂的言論判罪。當時只要蘇格拉底同意不再繼續這樣，就可以獲得流放，不過他最終選擇死刑，並說了這句話“life without this sort of examination is not worth living ...”來堅定自己的思想和信仰。

· 只有每天再度戰勝生活並奪取自由的人，才配享受生活的自由。

換句話說就是：Only those who start every day fresh new, are capable of living a free and happy lie. 只有那些每天都在爲生活而奮鬥的人，纔有資格過得自由。

這個句子是一個明喻，將生活比喻成航海，將目標比喻成羅盤，告訴我們:Goal is important to life.生活一定要有目標。

直譯就是“讓生活枯燥無味的是缺少目的”，和上一句表達的意思一樣，告訴我們，motive is essential in life。生活不能盲目。
