高二英語複習知識點(一)
besides, except, but, except for, apart from, in addition to, other than
(1) besides 的意思是“除……之外還有”，該介詞後面所表示的人或物等也包括在總數內。
Ten of us passed besides Tom. (= Tom passed too.)
(2) except 的意思是“不包括在內，除去”，該介詞後面所表示的人或物等不包括在總數內。
All of us passed except Tom. (= Tom did not pass.)
它的後面除接名詞和代詞外還可以接介詞、副詞或以that、when引導的從句。
He has always been in good health except in the past few days|quite recently I that he had a slight headache in the past few days / when he had a headache.
(3) but 作“除外”的意思有一些限制，它只能用在no one, none, all, nobody everyone, everything, who,what, where 等之後，而except的限制很少。
(4) except for 表示“除外”一般是指後面所除開的內容與前面的內容具有所屬關係或後面的部分對前面部分在細節上加以修正。如果後面的東西與前面的東西屬於同類語，則用except。

(5) apart from 既可表示 besides 的意思又可表示except for 的意思。
Apart from the ayst, it will take a lot of time. (Apart from = Besides)除了費用外，還要花很多時間。
Apart from that, all goes welt. (Apart from = Except for)除了那之外，一切都很順利。
(6) in addition to 有besides的意思。
We saw a cartoon in addition to cowboy movie.我們看了一部關於牛仔的電影，還看卡通片。
(7) other than 有except 的意思。
There's noboday here other than me.除了我這裏沒別人。
高二英語複習知識點(二)
pleasant, pleasing, pleased
(1) pleasant 可作定語和表語。修飾事物，不能修飾人。因此句子的主語只能是表示事物的詞語，而不能是人。意思是“令人愉快的，令人高興的”。
I hope you'll have a pleasant holiday.
我希望你能過一個愉快的假期。
(2) pleasing “令人高興的，令人愉快的”，表示寧靜、滿意、令人滿足之意。側重於表示接受對象的情感，傳遞主觀感受。比 pleasant 稍弱。主語可爲人或事物。
An actor should have a pleasing personality.
表演者應當具有一種令人愉快的個性。
(3) pleased “高興的，感到滿意的”含義與glad基本相同。作表語時，句子的主語只能是“人”，而不能是表示事物的詞語。be pleased with 表示“對……表示滿 意”之意。
She had a pleased look on his face.
她臉上露出了滿意的表情。
state, condition, situation
(1)state表“狀態、狀況”時，強調人或物在某種特定時期內具有的特徵和所處的環境，如：normal state，the mental state，the present state。
The people of the world want t0 end the state of war between the two countries.
全世界的人民都希望能結束兩國之間的紛爭狀態。
(2)condition 含義與state基本相同，condition 可指“形勢、事態、狀態”等。
The goods arrived in good condition.物到達時完好無損。
(3) situation 意爲“形式、情況、局面”時，強調各種情況之問重要的相互關係以及該情況與有關人之間的關係。
The situation in the Middle East in none too happy at present.中東局勢令人堪憂。
高二英語複習知識點(三)
1. be fundamental to… 對……是基本的，必需的This is fundamental to a true understanding of the book. 這對真正理解這本書十分重要。
2. in sb’s presence 當着某人的面，有某人在場
She asked them not to discuss the matter in her presence. 她要求他們不要當着她的面討論這個問題。
3. be harmful to… 對……有害的
= do harm to…The air here is harmful to our health. 這裏的空氣對我們有害。
4. There is no harm in doing sth. 不妨做某事
= It does no harm to do sth.
He may not be able to help but there’s no harm in asking him. 他可能幫不了忙，但是求他一下倒也無妨。
5. exist on… 靠……生存
= live on…They exist on very little food. 他們靠極少的食物生存。
6. exist in… 存在於……中
Several people believe the Devil exists in the world. 少數人認爲世界上存在惡魔。
7. in a puzzle 不知如何是好，很迷惑
I am in a puzzle about what he said. 我對他說的話迷惑不解。
8. in time
1)遲早;最後 = sooner or later; eventually
2)及時;不遲 = not late
You’ll learn how to do it in time. 你早晚能學會做這件事的。
Will I be in time for the train? 我趕得上那趟火車嗎?
9. give birth to… 生出，產出
She gave birth to a second child in January. 一月份的時候她生了第二個孩子。
The Chinese nation has given birth to many national heroes and revolutionary leaders. 中華民族養育了很多民族英雄和革命領袖。
10. in one’s turn 輪到某人也(做某事)，也They, in their turn, made a proposal. 他們接着也提了一個建議。
11. by turns 輪流，交替
The two brothers looked after their sick mother by turns. 兄弟倆輪流照看他們生病的母親。
12. in turn 依次
Each man in turn stood up and spoke. 每個人依次站起來發言。
13. It is one’s turn to do sth. 輪到某人做某事
It’s your turn to wash the dishes. 今天輪到你洗盤子了。
14. prevent sb./ sth. (from) doing sth. 阻止某人做某事
= stop sb./ sth. (from) doing sth.
= keep sb./ sth. From doing heavy rain prevented us going on, but we didn’t lose heart. 大雨阻止我們前進，但是我們不灰心失望。
15. escape from… 從……逃出
Who helped him escape from the prison?是誰幫他逃出監獄的?
16. block out
1)擋住(光線或聲音)
2)忘掉，抹去(不愉快的事)
Black clouds blocked out the sun. 烏雲遮住了太陽。
Over the years she had tried to block out that part of her life. 多年來她努力想把生命中的那一段經歷從記憶中抹去。
