筷子(chopsticks）是中國傳統的獨具特色的進食工具（dining utensils），至今已有數千年的歷史。筷子在古代被稱爲“箸”，大約從明朝開始纔有了“筷子”的稱呼。筷子多爲竹子製成，也有用木頭、象牙（ivory）、金屬或其他材料製作而成。它要麼上方下圓，要麼上下全圓而上粗下細。不管其形狀如何，筷子必須是成對使用的，並且兩隻筷子的大小長短要相同。筷子是中國人日常生活的必備工具，它的發明充分反映了中國人民的智慧。
