史琪特出生在肯塔基州幹嶺市(Dry Ridge)，是家中七個子女中的長女。早年和貝蒂·傑克·戴維絲(Betty Jack Davis)組成戴維絲姐妹樂隊(The Davis Sisters)。1953年8月2日，貝蒂·傑克·戴維絲車禍去世後，史琪特·戴維絲走上了她個人的演唱道路。
