引導時間狀語從句的從屬連詞很多，如較基本的有before, after, when, while, as, since, till, until, as soon as 等

例如：

Argentina came to a virtual standstill while the game was being played.  在比賽進行的時候，阿根廷全國幾乎陷入了停頓狀態。

Rock'n'roll has become so commercialised and safe since punk.  搖滾樂自從朋克樂以後就已經過於商業化而缺乏新意了。

除以上基本的引導時間狀語從句的從屬連詞外，還有些本來不是從屬連詞卻可用作從屬連詞的詞：

(1) 表示“一…就”的從屬連詞：the moment, the minute, the second, the instant, immediately, directly, instantly, once, no sooner…than, hardly…when等。

例如：

Many areas in the country'sinterior are unable to report Aids cases immediately.  該國內地的很多地區無法即時報告艾滋病病例。

I remember now. He arrived just at the moment it happened.  現在我想起來了，他恰恰在事情發生的時候到了。

Once wholesale prices are deregulated, consumer prices will also rise.  一旦批發價格放開，零售價格也會隨之上漲。

(2) 涉及time的幾個從屬連詞：every time(每次)，each time(每次)，(the) next time(下次)，any time(隨時)，the last time(上次)，the first time(第一次)。

例如：

Tape is expensive and loses sound quality every time it is copied.  磁帶成本高，而且每錄製一次音質就會變差一些。

He has been jailed eight times. Each time, friends bailed him out.  他8次被關進局子裏，每次都是朋友保釋他出來的。

The old man's voice was measurably weaker than the last time they'd talked.  那位老人的聲音明顯比他們上次談話時微弱。
