One day, a man named Ai Zi said to the rich man, “Your sons are so stupid and know nothing about the world. How can they take your property over after your death?”
一天， 艾子對富翁說：“您這兩位少爺整天糊里糊塗，以後怎麼接管家業呢?”
Hearing these words, the rich man became a little bit angry. The father said, “Everyone says my sons are very smart and praises them for their good virtue. What you say is sheer nonsense!”

“Then let”s test them. Ok?” Ai Zi suggested. The rich man agreed.

The elder son smiled and answered, “Anyone with sense knows the answer, that rice comes from the kitchen.”
老大嘿嘿一笑，說：“這誰不知道!是從廚房來的唄!”
The younger son blinked and said, “You”re wrong! How can you say rice comes from the kitchen! It indeed comes from the bag.”
老二眨巴眨巴眼睛說：“不對!怎麼是從廚房來的呢?大米是從口袋倒出來的。”
The rich man looked at his sons and turned red with anger. “You both are so silly! Why don”t you ask me when you don”t know the right answer? You are both wrong! Rice comes neither from the kitchen nor from the bag, it comes from the barn!”

英語故事短文帶翻譯：公主和一個鞋匠的故事 A Shoemaker and PrincessA young shoemaker left his village. Along the way, he found some ants, who were very sadbecause a bear had destroyed their anthill. The shoemaker helped them rebuild it, and the antsoffered to return the favor.

But the witch locked him up in a stinking dunge on with a sack of sandmixed with poppy seeds and told him that if he wasn’t able to separate the two, she would cutoff his head at dawn.

The young man thought about his death. But his friends the ants came and helped him passthe test. The witch was astounded. Then she took him to a room where there were thirteenmaidens with their faces covered: the shoemaker had to discover which one was the young man became discouraged but he saw a bee that landed on… the sweetest one, thetrue princess. When the shoemaker uncovered her face, the witch was changd into a young people fell in love and lived surrounded by animals and poppies

英語故事短文帶翻譯：病人和船主 The Patient and the Ship OwnerThis incident occurred one morning outside Albert Sch-weitzer’s hospital in the African jungle. A patient had gone fishing in another man’s boat. The owner of the boat thought he should be given all the fish that were caught. Dr. Sch-weitzer said to the boat owner:

“You are right because the other man ought to have asked permission to use your boat. But you are wrong because you are careless and lazy. Of laziness you are guilty because you were asleep in your hut on this moonlit night instead of making use of the good opportunity for fishing.”
“你有對的一面，因爲別人要用你的船，理應先徵得你的同意;但你也有錯的一面，因爲你粗心大意，而且懶惰。你只把獨木舟的鏈條繞在一棵棕櫚樹上，沒有用鎖鎖牢。對於懶惰，你是有愧的，因爲月明今宵，你關在屋裏睡大覺，卻沒有利用良機去捕魚。”
He turned to the patient: “But you were in the wrong when you took the boat without asking the owner’s permission. You were in the right because you were not so lazy as he was and you did not want to let the moonlit night go by without making some use of it.”
他又轉向那位病人說：“但是，你未徵得船主的許可便動用了他的船，在這點上你是不對的。你也有對的一面，因爲你不像他那樣懶惰，你不想讓這月夜白白溜走而不去利用它。”
Dr. Schweitzer divided the catch among the fisherman, the boat owner, and the hospital.
