第二部分 TEXT

    The Wayle is a small river that cuts across the park near my home. I like sitting by the Wayle on fine afternoons. It was warm last Sunday, so I went and sat on the river bank as usual. Some children were playing games on the bank and there were some people rowing on the river. Suddenly, one of the children kicked a ball very hard and it went towards a passing boat. Some people on the bank called out to the man in the boat, but he did not hear them. The ball struck him so hard that he nearly fell into the water. I turned to look at the children, but there weren't any in sight: they had all run away! The man laughed when he realized what had happened. He called out to the children and threw the ball back to the bank.

   威爾河是橫穿過我家附近公園的一條小河. 我喜歡在天氣晴朗的下午到河邊坐坐. 上星期日天氣很暖和. 於是我和往常一樣, 又去河邊坐着. 河岸上有些孩子正在玩耍, 河面上有些人正在划船. 突然, 一個孩子狠狠地踢了一腳球, 球便向着一隻划過來的小船飛去. 岸上的一些人對着小船上的人高喊, 但他沒有聽見. 球重重地打在他身上, 使他差點兒落入水中. 我轉過頭去看那些孩子, 但一個也不見, 全都跑了!當那個人明白了發生的事情時, 笑了起來. 他大聲叫着那些孩子, 把球扔回到岸上. 

第三部分 LANGUAGE POINTS

1、The Wayle is a small river that cuts across the park near my home.
The Wayle:威爾河 （河流前加定冠詞the）
cut across:橫穿

2、I like sitting by the Wayle on fine afternoons.
like doing sth:喜歡做...
by：prep.在河邊
on fine afternoons：此處afternoons用的是複數形式，表示每個下午

3、There were some people rowing on the river.
rowing on the river:現在分詞短語，此處用法相當於定語從句修飾some people
等於there were some people who were rowing on the river.

4、Some people on the bank called out to the man in the boat, but he did not hear them.
called out to：朝...大聲喊叫
called out at：正對着某人大聲喊
hear：聽見（listen to只是聽這個動作）

5、 I turned to look at the children, but there weren't any in sight: they had all run away!
any:指代any children
in sight:在視野中；此處in sight後的冒號表示後面成分爲對前面部分的解釋

說明：so後面跟adj.或adv.;that後引導結果狀語從句

Ex:
1）The ball struck him so hard (adv.) that he nearly fell into the water.
2）I'm so tired（adj.） that I can fall asleep right now.
3）He is so busy（adj.） that he doesn't even have time to say hello to me.
4）The request is so polite (adj.) that you cannot fail to obey it.
5）He is speaking so clearly(adv.) that we can all follow him very well.
