Zina: It's seven-thirty. I want to know who left this note on my desk.

【It's seven-thirty. 七點半。】
在這個句型中，it指時間。雖然這句話也可以簡化爲Seven-thirty.但還是用原句型較爲適當。
it除了指時間以外，也用於指天氣或距離，例如：
It's very hot today.
今天天氣很熱。
It's about 400 kilometers from Taipei to Kenting.
從臺北到墾丁大約400公里。

as in這個短語是用來補述，好讓意思能讓人更明白，常用在解釋拼字的時候：
A: My name is Meg.

那是Mary的m、elephant的e，girl的g嗎?
as in可以用來進一步解釋情況，猶如中文裏的“像……那種”：

quit跟stop一樣，後面跟着-ing 表示 “停止某種動作”，後面跟着不定詞時意思是 “停下來做某項動作”，例如：quit smoking“戒菸”，stop to smoke“停下來抽菸”。

big picture是“全局，大局”的意思，can't see the big picture是指僅能着眼於眼前發生的事，無法看出事物的整體性，沒有綜觀全局，長期規劃的能力。

唯有在開始營運之後，我們才能付大家薪水。
B: But Johnnie can't see the big picture. He's unwilling to wait. He wants to get paid now.
