1. I’ve been wracking my brain about how I can best help you.我絞盡腦汁地想怎樣纔可以給你最大的支持。

Notes: “wrack”作爲動詞的意思是“嚴重傷害”，“wrack my brain”顯而易見可理解爲“絞盡腦汁”，夠形象。例句如下：

I’ve been wracking my brain about what presents I should prepare for my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day.

關於情人節送女朋友什麼禮物，我真的絞盡腦汁。

I’ve been wracking my brain to solve this math problem.

爲了解開這道數學題，我絞盡腦汁。

2. If he were a good influence, he’d patch things up with his wife.如果他真想爲她好，就應該和妻子和好。

Notes: “patch up”這個短語表示“修補，平息”。“patch things up with somebody”的意思是“與某人和好”。例如：

He went to the tailor’s to patch up his coat.

他去裁縫店補外套。

I tried to patch things up between them.

我試着化解他們之間的矛盾。

Has she ever tried to patch things up with him?

她有試着跟他和好嗎？

3. I’ve given Margaret my word and I’m determined to support her.我向瑪格麗特承諾過了，我一定會幫助她。

Notes: “give somebody my word”直譯過來是“給某人我的話”，理解下就是“給某人承諾”。和之前分享過的另一個表達是同樣的意思，還記得是什麼嗎？對啦！就是“You have my word.”“determined”作爲形容詞表示“堅決的”。“be determined to do something”自然就是“決意做某事”，可謂很堅定。更多例句：

I will study hard in college, I give you my word.

我向你保證，我一定會在大學努力學習。

He is determined to start his own business.

他下定決心要創業。

4. I’m on my knees with gratitude.我真是感激涕零。

Notes：“on my knees”的意思是“跪下”，“on my knees with gratitude”直譯過來是“感激得跪下了”，可見感謝的程度之深——“感激涕零”，“感激不盡”。在片中飽含諷刺的意味。例句：

She fell on her knees and prayed to God.

她跪下來，向上帝禱告。

What do you expect? I’m on my knees with gratitude?

你在期待什麼？等着我感激涕零？

5. This horse has already bolted.木已成舟/亡羊補牢，爲時已晚/覆水難收。

Notes：“bolt”作爲不及物動詞有個意義是“（馬等）脫繮”。這句話直譯過來就是“馬脫繮了。”脫繮的野馬再難追回，形容某件事木已成舟，來不及阻止了。

They are gonna release the news. This horse has already bolted.

他們馬上就要發佈這條新聞了，木已成舟。
