12種“全神貫注”的英語表達：簡單基礎又實用

1. focus 

focus的名詞含義就是“中心，焦點”，作動詞就表示（使）集中目光；（使）逐漸聚焦。

When the kitchen is finished I'm going to focus my attention on the back yard and get that straightened out.

等廚房弄完，我會集中精力把花園整理乾淨。

The noise made it hard for me to focus on work.

噪音讓我無法集中注意力工作。

2. concentrate

concentrate的最常見意思就是“專注，專心；全神貫注”。

I'm going to concentrate on my writing for a while.

我要專心寫作一會兒。

要注意它還有名詞含義，表示“濃縮物；濃縮液”。

3. absorb

它的本義是指吸收液體、氣體、光、熱等等，也指吸收抽象的知識、文化、經驗、教訓、思想、方法等。

absorb在表示“全神貫注”的時候，常用於被動結構。

He was completely absorbed in reading and forgot even to take his meal.

他只顧看書，連飯都忘了吃。

4. immerse

這個詞的本義是“使浸沒，使浸入”。你如果把自己全身心的精力投入到某事物中，這就是“沉浸於”“全神貫注”。

He immersed himself totally in his work.

他埋頭於工作。

5. rapt

這是個形容詞，就是“專心致志的；全神貫注的；全身心投入的”的意思。

She sat with a rapt expression reading her book.

He fixed a rapt eye upon her.

6. engross

這是個動詞，表示“使全神貫注；獨佔”，常與in搭配。

She was engrossed in painting.

Engrossed in his book he forgot the time.

engrossing就是形容詞“引人入勝的”，所以說，absorbing就是“吸引人的；非常有趣的”。

7. preoccupy

attention的意思有“注意；注意力；照料；留心；關懷”。

He was all attention in an instant. The alley door closed softly.

11. lose oneself in

這個短語可不是迷路的意思哦，它表示“專心致志於”。
