在雅思考試中如果沒有聽懂，其實你完全可以要求考官複述一遍題目，但外國人一般不會用pardon的，你可以說I Beg you pardon; Will you repeat that, please?, etc.，或者解釋一下What do you mean by that? etc.，因爲有的題目確實是考生從沒考慮過的，提這樣的要求是合理的，不會被扣分，因爲這也同樣是交際的一個方面，沒聽懂硬扛着或瞎猜，只能被扣分。問清楚問題再答總好過沒弄清亂答。

但是如果考官以你的要求重複了問題，你還是沒有聽懂，那麼這時要怎麼辦呢?你還是得請他/她重複問題，要注意的是，不要再用pardon。變換詢問的句子，比如

Sorry, I still can’t catch up with you.

Sorry, but can you rephrase the question again?

Would you mind explaining the word you just said?

I’m afraid I didn’t quite hear what you said.

I’m not quite sure what you said. Do you mean ...?

等等。當然，這時你在考官心目中的印象分會低一些，但這並不意味着最終分數低，因爲你的水平並不是就在這一個問題上體現出來的。

雅思口語考試說pardon雖然不扣分，但烤鴨們還是一定要全神貫注的聽考官的問題。通常的情況是考生們太緊張或是太急於表現自己，沒有聽清楚考官的指示。
