Talk about a favourite class you like

My favourite class that I took was a class I took about five years ago. The class was on International Trade and Marketing for an International Market. I was a second-year student at university and I was eager to begin to specialize in my field. You see at that time I had all these ideas about how I could get rich by selling Chinese-made products to the west. You know, I think there are a lot of people who have the same dream that I did. My thinking was that what I could sell wasn't available in the west, so international marketing would just be about telling the world about it, and then waiting for the money to come in.

In this course we had a professor who was not only knowledgeable from a theoretical standpoint, he also had a lot of practical knowledge, since he used to work for a Chinese company who sold products in America. He lived in America and supervised the efforts of the marketing department, so he had a rich knowledge of the kinds of things that can go wrong when you're trying to market to people from a different market. He told us how some Chinese executives would choose certain clients over others only because they were willing to make advance payments, but that in fact the clients who wanted better it terms were actually more profitable clients. He said it was natural for executives to favor clients who paid early in China, but that in the west where credit was the norm most clients thought it quite normal to pay over long periods of time. He said that some clients took advantage of this mindset to try and squeeze lower prices out of his company.

The style was completely anecdotal. By that I mean he just told stories. He tried to organise these stories as they related to the theory, and they tended to make sense from a practical way of looking at the issues. He also gave us a lot of humorous examples of cultural differences along the way. But he also told us that people are people wherever they come from, and he even told us how he exported products to places like Rwanda and how similar they were to us in many respects.

It was my favourite because it taught me what issues to think about before setting up any international trade. More than just knowledge it also helped me to understand the issue of culture better, and this was very relevant to me since I am planning to go overseas soon.

Ok right then, well I’m gonna talk about is the English class I had during my primary school, which I guess must have been about ten or eleven years ago by now.

It was the first time that I was given a class by a foreign teacher. At that time, our English teacher introduced an American young guy to us. Out of curiosity, most of us swarmed around him. Then, he had a free talk with us in simple but humorous English. He spoke quite slowly and clearly so that we could follow him well. Meanwhile,he would repeat just in time what students did not understand. Greatly inspired, most of the students took an active part in asking him questions and interacting with him. So the atmosphere was quite alive during the whole class. And... I have to say that through this lesson, we all improve our oral English and the courage to speak another language other than our mother tongue.

When comparing this to most of the classes we had at that time, where we basically just went through the textbook and took notes, it was a thousand times more interesting, and of course, meaningful. Actually, from this lesson, I came to the conclusion that it is not so difficult to learn English if we talk more in it And L also learned that English can act as an interesting and useful tool in communications with foreigners if we’re good at it.

A favorite subject

I think the most interesting subject in my high school is geography. I have a dream to travel around the world since I was a child. At that time, I would always wonder where exactly some famous cities were on the map, such as London, New York, so I am really interested in geography.

I had a great geography teacher in my high school.

She was knowledgeable, hard-working and devoted to the students. I always felt very excited when I had geography classes because I couldn't wait to learn more about the world. Besides that, I also liked reading atlas and other books about geography during my spare time. I would always have good marks/grades on geography throughout my high school years.

When I talk about geography with my classmates or even parents, I can always impress them with my knowledge. I still like geography and hope I can travel around the world in the future.

Do you like watching movies的時候,第一反應總是這一句:I like it very much。 Do you like watching TV,你也是這句I like it very much;問你 Do you like travelling,你還是這句;哪怕問你 Do you like reading,你怎麼也是隻有這一句。

I like it very much

Well, I really enjoy that. Actually, I often go to the cinema. I just watched the last week. It’s amazing! I like it very much

Do you plan to go abroad? Yes.

Where do you want to go? Britain.

What do you want to study? Business.

Why do you plan to study that? Because it’s good.

I’m really fond of 就是一個很好的用法;

I’m really into doing 是很多學生不熟悉,但卻是English-speaker 非常常用的一個說法,09年有一部美國電影就叫,有不少女生也許看過;

I’m totally crazy/enthusiastic about 你能想起來用嗎?

I’m quite keen on… 也許這個詞組你已經淡忘了吧;

Do you like to go to the restaurants?

Yeah, I guess I’m quite interested in trying different kinds of yummy food. And I’m really crazy about spicy food. Hotpot and Sichuan restaurants are my favorites. But you know, I live on campus, so most of the time I just dine in the school canteen.
