舌尖上的美國(143):熱鬧+微波爐時間

“熱鬧”這個詞在漢語裏再常見不過了，哪裏有熱鬧，哪裏就會有人羣聚集。當然，這些人羣中有些是“湊熱鬧”的，有些則是在一邊“看熱鬧”的。今天，咱們就說說這兩種行爲的英語說法吧。

“湊熱鬧”這個詞在英語中可以用詞組come along for the ride來表示，它的意思是：to join in an activity without playing an important part in it。

For example:

My boyfriend loves this rock band, he has booked two tickets for the concert tonight, but I just came along for the ride.

我男朋友很喜歡這個搖滾樂隊，他老早就訂好了演唱會的門票，不過，我只是來湊個熱鬧。

“湊熱鬧”的人是身在其中，那麼“看熱鬧”的人就屬於“旁觀者”那一類了，所以，在英語裏，我們可以用look on或者watch the fun來表示“看熱鬧”。

For example:

John took part in the game, but the rest of us just looked on.

約翰參加了比賽，而我們其他人都在一旁看熱鬧。

Don't just stand there watching the fun! Hurry up and give me a hand.

別站在那裏看熱鬧啊！趕緊給我搭把手。
