The year's at the spring

And day's at the Morn;

Morning's at seven;

The hill-side's dew-pearled;

The lark's on the wing;

The snail's on the thorn:

God's in his Heaven --

All's right with the world!

正值一年之春，

又逢一日之晨；

晨光走到了七點；

山腰掛着露珠；

雲雀展翅高飛；

蝸牛爬上了荊棘:

上帝在自己的天堂裏——

塵世間一派井然！

原詩每行兩音步(dimeter)。第一、二、五、六行中，第一音步爲輕重格(iambic)，第二音步爲輕輕重格(anapestic)；第三、第七行中，第一音步爲重輕輕格(dactylic)，第二音步爲重輕格(trochaic)；第四、第八行格律有所鬆動。值得注意的是末行第一音步(All’s right)爲重重格(spondaic)，於語義有所強化。全詩的韻腳安排爲abcd abcd. 譯詩每行三頓，但未能押尾韻。網上有譯者將起首兩行徑自譯爲“一年之季在於春，一日之際在於晨”，雖整飭易誦，實與原詩句法、語氣不符。（倒數第二行由“上帝在他的天堂裏”改譯爲“上帝在自己的天堂裏”，因爲此行中的annunciatory “his”應得到強調。07.5.16）
