美國加拿大將主辦峯會推動向朝鮮施壓

The United States and Canada will co-host a 16-nation summit next month in Canada in a show of solidarity against the escalating threat posed by North Korea's nuclear program.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and his Canadian counterpart, Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, announced Tuesday the meeting will be held January 16 in Vancouver. Tillerson and Freeland made the announcement after holding talks in the Canadian capital, Ottawa.

Tillerson said the summit is aimed at advancing "the global pressure campaign" on Pyongyang, which has accelerated tests of its nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities. The North test fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile late last month that could potentially reach the eastern United States.美國和加拿大2018年1月將共同舉辦一個有16個國家參加的峯會，顯示國際社會團結一致應對日益加劇的朝鮮核武項目威脅。

美國國務卿蒂勒森和加拿大外交部長弗裏蘭星期二宣佈會議明年1月16號在溫哥華舉行。蒂勒森和弗裏蘭在宣佈之前在加拿大首都渥太華舉行了會談。

蒂勒森說，峯會的目標是推動全球向平壤施壓的努力。朝鮮加快了核武器和彈道導彈試驗，增強其能力的速度。朝鮮上個月發射了一枚新型洲際彈道導彈，可能可以打到美國東岸。

參加溫哥華峯會的16個國家包括1950年到1953年朝鮮戰爭期間派軍隊幫助韓國的國家。16個國家是澳大利亞、英國、加拿大、土耳其、新西蘭、菲律賓、泰國、法國、埃塞俄比亞、希臘、哥倫比亞、比利時、南非、荷蘭、盧森堡和美國。日本、韓國和印度也將參加會議。
