萬達擬10億美元收購美國金球獎製作公司

The conglomerate led by China’s richest man is in talks to buy the US studio that stages the Golden Globe Awards for a reported $1bn, the latest in a flurry of moves by Chinese companies to snap up Hollywood assets.

中國首富旗下的一家綜合企業正在進行談判，據報道將以10億美元收購一家舉辦金球獎(Golden Globe Awards)的美國製作公司，這是中國企業收購好萊塢資產的一系列舉措的最新一例。

Eldridge Industries said it had agreed to enter into exclusive talks with Wanda Culture Industry — a unit of Wang Jianlin’s Wanda group — with the “goal of finalising a mutually satisfactory transaction” for Dick Clark Productions.

Eldridge Industries表示，已同意與王健林旗下的萬達集團(Wanda)子公司萬達文化產業集團(Wanda Culture Industry)進行排他性談判，“目的是”爲Dick Clark Productions“敲定一筆雙方都滿意的交易”。

The production company is a mainstay of Hollywood’s self-promotion, staging the Golden Globe Awards and American Music Awards. Both are popular among Chinese audiences.

這家制作公司是好萊塢自我推銷的支柱企業，舉辦了金球獎和全美音樂獎(American Music Awards)頒獎典禮，都頗受中國觀衆的歡迎。

The Chinese push into Hollywood has been led by Mr Wang, founder of Wanda Group , already the world’s largest cinema owner-operator. He is building a global cinematic giant by snapping up global assets on both the production and screening end of the film industry.

However, US Republicans have voiced concerns over China’s incursion into America’s film industry, with 16 lawmakers this month calling for greater scrutiny of Chinese investment.

Wanda began its global expansion in film distribution with the 2012 purchase of US cinema chain AMC. A drive into production followed with a controlling stake in Legendary Pictures , producer of the Godzilla and Jurassic World movies.

Wanda has inked a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to distribute films over the company’s domestic cinema network. Legendary Entertainment’s ties to Wanda gave it access to data on the Chinese market that allow it to target films to the Chinese consumer using advanced ticket sales and other metrics.

萬達已與索尼影視娛樂公司(Sony Pictures Entertainment)簽訂協議，將在萬達的國內院線網絡發行索尼的電影。傳奇影業與萬達的合作令其獲得有關中國市場的數據，可以利用電影票預售和其他數據向中國消費者推廣電影。

Even Wanda’s core business of construction has taken an entertainment twist, with Mr Wang’s decision to build theme parks across the country in a move to take on Walt Disney, which recently opened its first Chinese mainland theme park, Shanghai Disneyland.
