說起希臘語，很多國家的人首先會想到“難”，確實挺難的。

另外，它在現存的書寫語言中是最古老的，已經用了5000多年。

很多語言都受到了希臘語的影響，英語當中就有大量的希臘詞彙，連我們常用的“道歉”apology 都是從希臘語來的。

The Greek language is unique and has continuously been used for more than 5000 years. This makes it the oldest written language still in existence, at least when you’re looking at archeological findings. The Greek Language has also influenced the English language and other languages with several thousands of words. Thousands of English words come from the Greek language, sometimes via the Roman adaptation into Latin and then to English. Common English words from Greek include “academy,” “apology,” “marathon,” “siren,” “alphabet,” and “typhoon.”

希臘語很獨特，而且已連續使用了5000多年。這使它成爲現存最古老的書面語，至少考古發現是這樣講的。英語和其他語言的數千個單詞也受到了希臘語的影響。成千上萬的英語單詞來自希臘語，有時是通過羅馬人把它們改編成拉丁語，然後再改編成英語。來自希臘語的常見英語單詞有“academy（學院）”、“apology（道歉）”、“marathon（馬拉松）”、“siren（警笛）”、“alphabet（字母表）”和“typhoon（颱風）”。
