【釋義】

On the ball 這個習慣用語的意思是：一個人很機靈，在工作方面做的非常出色，總是名列前茅。有人可能要問，一個人精明能幹，工作出色，這跟ball 有什麼關係呢? 據說， on the ball這個俗語來自打籃球，有些著名的籃球運動員有一種才能，那就是：在球場上不管球在誰手裏，也不管球在場地的哪個角落，他們總能在離球不遠的地方，一有機會就可以把球搶到手，也就是on the ball。

【例句】

我們來舉個例子看看on the ball 在日常生活中是怎麼用的。這是一個商店的經理在對他的助手說話：
