In the current era, children are freer to do things they want to do. Personally speaking, I think it is a positive trend.

Admittedly, there may exist some negative consequences if children ignore advice from their parents and make a decision by themselves. It is acknowledged that most children may be too young to judge what is right and what is wrong and they are prone to making mistakes. For instance, if children intend to smoke at an early age and parents do nothing to prevent it, children’s health may be affected severely. Nevertheless, children may still benefit from having more freedom.

To begin with, there are more options available for children currently. In the past, most parents asked their children to study harder since going to a university might be the only choice for children in poor families to obtain a decent job when they grow up. However, children can choose other paths to gain their success, such as becoming E-sport players that might be discriminated in the past. Therefore, it seems that children can have different life plans in the present.

In addition, having freedom to make a choice, children will become more independent. A lot children may be spoiled by their parents and rely on parents too much. In order to avoid such a phenomenon, empowering children to take some decisions can make children realize that they are also able to make a judgment, such as how time is distributed to different subjects. Then, children may not be so dependent and what is more important is that they will realize they need to be responsible for their decisions, which is really crucial for their development in the future.

In sum, considering that children will have more options for their life and become more mature, giving children more freedom is a positive trend on the whole.

Some people insist on the view that the censorship should ban this news as avoiding instability in the community. As far as I am concerned, I tend to disagree with this contention and will justify my reasons below.

First of all, people have the rights to acknowledge what is happening around them, so that the media should be accountable for reporting the truths to the citizens, even though there is a crime. In addition, people would be able to raise self-defense awareness if they have been informed that there is a criminal at large, and therefore it would help facilitate citizens’ life and property security.

Secondly, on the practical level, the general public could contribute to help arrest offenders. For instance, the witnesses will contact the police immediately when they see a criminal who is on the wanted list. As a result, the human resource and revenue of the authorities would be saved by cooperation between police and citizens.

There are, however, a number of problems would be caused by publishing this news. Firstly, releasing criminal information will lead to anxious atmosphere among people. Consequently, people will worry about their security, especially there is a series killer has not been caught yet. Another related point is the harmony of society, on the whole, might be affected by increasing feeling of insecurity, which will constitute skepticism and disappointment toward the government. From this point of view, the censorship would provide restraints to the press in terms of reporting criminal news.

In conclusion, I concede that the pressure of the authorities would be raised by releasing detailed information of crimes to general public, but I still believe that it will be better off if citizens have the notice and they are capable to create precautions, thus would not only protect themselves but also help the government.

In fact, if people know to comply with laws after receiving education, their daily work also contributes to the development of society.
