華爲推出Storysign應用 讓聾啞兒童享受閱讀快樂
China's telecommunication giant Huawei has launched an Android app called StorySign that will make it easier for deaf children and their parents to read bedtime stories.
中國電信巨頭華爲近日發佈了一款名爲StorySign的安卓應用程序，這款程序可以幫助失聰兒童和他們的父母更好的享受睡前故事時間。Powered by a Huawei AI engine and featuring an avatar called Star, the app uses image and optical character recognition to help deaf children to read by turning written text into a display of sign language.
這款應用由華爲的人工智能引擎提供動力，並配有一個名叫Star的人物形象，利用圖像和光學字符識別技術，將書面文字轉化爲手語，幫助失聰兒童閱讀。Users can also choose a book from the app's book library that is then displayed in sign language using animated characters. The first book on the StorySign platform is the popular children's book "Spot the Dog".
此外，用戶還可以從應用程序的圖書庫中選擇一本書，然後通過動畫角色展示手語。StorySign平臺上的第一本書是廣受歡迎的兒童讀物《斑點狗小玻》。
The developers aimed to make the app's main character Star appealing to both boys and girls by making her an older-sister type of character with a tomboy style. Star also wears a hearing aid.
開發人員的目標是，通過將這款應用的主要角色Star設計成一個假小子風格的姐姐角色，同時吸引男孩和女孩。另外，Star還戴有一個助聽器。
"We created StorySign to help make it possible for families with deaf children to enjoy an enriched story time," said Andrew Garrihy, Huawei's CMO for Western Europe.
