IBM研發全球最小電腦 比鹽粒還要細小

IBM has unveiled a microscopic computer that's small enough to slip through a salt shaker.

國際商業機器公司（IBM）近日推出了一款小到能從鹽瓶中倒出的微型電腦。

The company announced the creation of the world's smallest computer can "monitor, analyze, communicate and even act on data".

該公司宣稱，這款全球最小電腦的誕生不僅可以“監控、分析、交換數據”，甚至可以“根據數據採取行動”。

Though the size is rather small, it's a mighty bit of hardware that has the computing power of an x86 chip. And the device will cost less than ten cents to manufacture.

儘管微型電腦的尺寸相當迷你，但它強大的硬件條件使其擁有相當於一張“x86”芯片的計算能力，且該裝置的生產成本還不到10美分。

And this is only the start. Soon, this type of hardware will make it in to many more products, claims the company.

該公司稱，這僅僅是開始。不久之後，這種類型的硬件將會進入更多的產品中。

"Within the next five years, cryptographic anchors - such as ink dots or tiny computers smaller than a grain of salt - will be embedded in everyday objects and devices," said IBM head of research Arvind Krishna.

It's unclear when the tiny computer will be released, and we still don't know what its exact specs are.

But we're supposedly looking at the future. Let's just hope someone doesn't accidentally step on it.
