起源：
這個短語始於美國19世紀。據說是來源於劇場。在舞臺上，演員經常會由於緊張或怯場而造成忘詞等尷尬的局面，只要音樂一響，演員就沒有任何選擇的餘地，只能去face the music（必須承受出現的局面）。人們遂用face the music指承擔自己行爲的後果。
