家中失火狗狗放棄逃生 爲救小主人英勇犧牲

A family dog has died after shielding an 8-month-old baby from a house fire that broke out in Baltimore last Sunday.

上週日，巴爾的摩一棟民宅發生火災，一隻家犬在捨身保護一名只有8個月大的女嬰後喪命。

Erika said she had stepped outside to her car when she turned around to find the house in flames, according to CBS News. Her eight-month-old daughter Viviana was still inside with the dog, Polo.

據CBS報道，艾瑞卡表示，當時自己走到屋外的汽車去拿東西，回來就發現屋子已經着火了，當時在屋裏的只有自己8個月大的女兒薇薇安和一隻名叫波羅的小狗。

"I tried to keep getting in," Erika said in an interview with CBS News. "She was up the stairs, but the fire smoke was so heavy I couldn't get past it." She suffered burns to her hands and face.

在接受CBS的採訪中，艾瑞卡表示："當時寶寶在二樓，我一直試着衝上樓，但是煙太大我根本進不去"。她的胳膊和臉部都有部分燒傷。

"I kept running back out and back in, trying to get up there. Then, the door curling started falling and I couldn't get back in," she added.

她補充說道："我來來回回試了好多次，想要進去。之後，門框被燒變了形，所以我沒辦法進去。"

Erika said that when firefighters arrived, they found Polo covering Viviana with his body. The baby only suffered burns on her arm and side because of the dog's protection.

艾瑞卡說，當消防員趕到現場時，他們看到狗狗Polo用身體覆蓋着小主人薇薇安。由於小狗的保護，小寶寶只有側身和手臂被燒傷了。

The family created a GoFundMe page to help with medical costs for Viviana, who is still in serious condition, CBS News reported.

據CBS報道，該家庭在衆籌網站GoFundMe上創建了一個網頁，希望籌到薇薇安的醫藥費。目前薇薇安的情況仍然比較嚴重。

"He was my first baby before Viv. He was like my child," Erika said of Polo, according to CBS News. "He followed us everywhere."

據CBS報道，艾瑞卡在談到polo是表示：它就像我的孩子一樣，還沒有Viviana的時候，它就是我的第一個孩子，我們去哪它就去哪。"
