海航旗下Avolon收購CIT飛機租賃業務

Avolon Holdings, the aircraft leasing company controlled by China’s HNA Group, has agreed to pay $10bn for the rival leasing arm of US-based CIT Group, in a deal that will double the buyer’s size and push it to number three in the industry.

中國海航集團(HNA Group)旗下飛機租賃公司Avolon Holdings已同意以100億美元收購美國競爭對手CIT Group飛機租賃業務。這筆交易將把Avolon的規模擴大一倍,推升到業內第三的位置。

Its deal for CIT raises the value of mergers and acquisitions involving HNA businesses to at least $27bn in the past two years.

與CIT的這筆交易將海航過去兩年參與的併購交易價值提高到至少270億美元。

Following the transaction, Avolon will more than double its fleet from 432 to 910 aircraft, valued at $43bn, the company said. It will finance the acquisition with $8.5bn in debt, $3bn in new equity from its parent Bohai Capital Holding, as well as with its own cash.

“The transaction doubles our size, in simple terms,” said Avolon chief executive Dómhnal Slattery. “Our shareholder wants us to grow.”

HNA, which bought Avolon for $2.5bn in September last year through its subsidiary Bohai Leasing, will now control the largest leasing fleet in China. Avolon, which was established in 2010, will also move up to number three in the global rankings for aircraft leasing, the company said. AerCap Holdings and GE Capital Aviation Services hold the top two spots in the industry.

海航將擁有中國最大的飛機租賃業務,去年9月海航通過子公司渤海租賃(Bohai Leasing)斥資25億美元收購Avolon。而成立於2010年的Avolon也表示其在飛機租賃行業的排名也將上升到全球第三,該行業的前兩名分別是AerCap Holdings和GE Capital Aviation Services。

CIT shares in New York climbed 9.9 per cent to $40 on the takeover announcement.

這筆收購交易公佈後,CIT在紐約市場的股票上漲9.9%,至每股40美元。

Buying CIT represents the biggest cross-border deal in HNA’s empire building to date, which has included the purchase of airlines, hotels, software distributors and television makers.

HNA is now one of China’s most acquisitive companies, conducting 35 deals worth at least $27bn — including the CIT purchase — since the start of 2015, according to data from Dealogic.

Chen Feng, HNA’s chairman, said in July the buying spree was set to continue. So far, the group’s strategy has centred on revenue streams from Chinese tourists overseas, through interests in airlines, infrastructure and hospitality.
