狀語的構成
1.獨立結構作狀語
主要用在英語書面語中。
名詞+介詞詞組：
The bad man stood in front of us, gun in hand .
壞人站在我們面前，手裏拿着槍。
A hooligan was walking around, hand in pocket.
一個流氓手插在衣袋裏，到處轉悠。
名詞+動名詞：
Dinner being ready, my wife called us to the table.
晚餐做好後，母親叫我們上桌。
A doghaving barked for half an hour,some neighbors were woken up.
一條狗叫了半個小時，一些鄰居被吵醒了。
名詞+過去分詞(詞組)：
The houses damaged in the typhoon,the villagers became homeless.
房屋被颱風毀了，村民們便無家可歸了。
The boy sat on the floor, head hung low.
男孩坐在地板上，低垂着頭。
2.特殊的慣用詞組作狀語
A beggar is begging for food door by door.
乞丐正挨家挨戶地討飯。
He drove hisclassmates away one after another.
他一個接一個地把朋友趕走了。
You should enter the water head first.
你應該頭先入水。
The professor has been hungering for the Nobel prize, boy and man.
這位教授整個少年和成年時期，一直渴望獲得諾貝爾獎。
提示：
英語狀語主要放在三個位置上，句首，主語與謂語之間，句尾。
其中，句尾狀語最多，句首也很多，主語與謂語之間最少。
