The captain of the capsized Costa Concordia could be sentenced to a cumulative total of more than 2,500 years in prison if convicted of causing a shipwreck, abandoning ship and multiple counts of manslaughter, Daily Telegraph reported.

如果導致沉船、棄船逃跑、多重過失殺人等罪名成立，傾覆的“科斯塔·康科迪亞”號遊輪船長弗朗西斯科·謝蒂諾將面臨超過2500年的監禁。

Francesco Schettino could face an eight year jail sentence for every one of the 300 passengers and crew he left on the crippled vessel when it grounded on the shores of Giglio Island on the night of Jan. 13.

據英國《每日電訊報》報道，1月13日遊輪在吉廖島海岸擱淺時，謝蒂諾拋下船上的300名乘客和船員自顧逃生，他要爲他們每人坐上8年牢。

He would face an additional 15 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter and another 10 years if found guilty of causing the shipwreck. A total of 32 people are now feared to have died in the accident.
