國際貨幣基金組織總裁拉加德被因過失疏忽將公開受審

The head of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, will stand trial over a state payout to the French tycoon Bernard Tapie, an appeals court has ruled.

據一家上訴法院裁定，國際貨幣基金組織總裁克里斯蒂娜·拉加德因對法國大亨伯納德·塔皮給與一項國家支出，將公開受審。

She is charged with negligence over the award to Mr Tapie of 404m euro ($445m; 339m pound) in 2008 when she was France's economy minister.

她被指控在2008年擔任法國經濟部長時，因其疏忽判給了塔皮4.04億歐元（約合4.45億美元，3.39億英鎊）。

Ms Lagarde had appealed against a lower court ruling from December. She is now expected to appear before a special court for government ministers.

之前曾有一家低級法院對此作出裁決，而拉加德自從去年12月以來一直在上訴。現在她有望出現在一個爲政府部長設立的專門法庭。

The case stems from Mr Tapie's sale of his majority stake in the sports equipment company, Adidas, which was handled by the state-owned bank, Credit Lyonnais. The businessman sued for compensation after claiming he was defrauded by the bank and received too little from the sale in 1993.

Ms Lagarde was responsible for the rare decision to appoint an arbitration panel, rather than allowing the courts to decide on the dispute. She has always denied any wrongdoing, saying she acted in the interest of the state and with respect for the law.

After learning of the decision by France's highest appeals court, Ms Lagarde's lawyer, Patrick Maisonneuve, said he was convinced that the trial would show she was innocent.

Reacting to the latest ruling, the IMF said the executive board continued to express confidence in her ability to carry out her duties and was being briefed on developments.

國際貨幣基金組織也對這一最新裁決做出了迴應，表示執行委員會仍然對拉加德有信心，相信她有能力履行自己的責任，並將持續關注事態的發展。

Ms Lagarde, who was given a second five-year term as IMF managing director in January, is the third head of the organisation to face legal proceedings.
