One morning a fox sees a cock. He thinks,"This is my breakfast.''

一天早上，一隻狐狸看到了一隻公雞。他想：這是我的早餐。

He comes up to the cock and says, "I know you can sing very well. Can you sing for me?'' The cock is glad[①]. He closes his eyes and begins to sing. The fox sees that and caches him in his mouth and carries him away[②].

他走上前對公雞說：“我知道，你唱歌唱得非常好聽，你能唱給我唱一首嗎?”公雞很高興，閉上眼睛就唱了起來。狐狸看到這些一口咬住公雞就叼走了。

The people in the field see the cry, "Look, look! The fox is carrying the cock away.'' The cock says to the fox, "Mr Fox, do you understand? The people say you are carrying their cock away. Tell them it is yours. Not theirs.''

在田地裏的人們看到了狐狸，大聲喊道：“看，看!狐狸把公雞叼走了。”公雞對狐狸說：“狐狸先生，你能理解麼?人們認爲你叼走了他們的公雞。告訴他們這是你的，不是他們的。”

The fox opens his mouth and says, "The cock is mine, not yours.'' Just then the cock runs away[③] from the fox and flies into the tree.

狐狸張開她的嘴說：“公雞是我的，不是你們的。” 就在那時，公雞從狐狸的嘴裏逃了出來飛進了樹林裏。

寓意：這個故事體現了中國的一句古話“以其人之道還至其人之身”，所以那些自以爲很聰明的人一定要時刻保持警惕，不然就會被別人用同樣的辦法來對付自己。

"Ten steps from the porch and twenty steps from the rose bushes," growled Bluebeard in Jimmy's dream one night. "There be treasure there! Aawrgh."

So the next day Jimmy began to dig. He dug until the hole was deep and the dirt pile was high.

He kept digging. The hole got deeper and the dirt pile got higher.

“距離走廊十步，玫瑰花叢20步的地方，”一天夜裏藍鬍子在吉米的夢裏咆哮道，“那裏有珍寶!”

所以第二天，吉米開始挖。他一直挖，直到坑很深了，挖出的土堆得很高了。

他不停地挖。坑越來越深，土越堆越高。

He dug until the hole was deepest and the dirt pile was at its highest. He sighed. "I'm too tired. I can't dig anymore." Then he spied something...

it was only one of Woofy's bones. Instead of treasure, all Jimmy had was a dog bone, a hole, and a big pile of dirt to fill it in with. He thought "That pirate lied to me!"

But when Jimmy's mother saw what he had done, she clasped her hands and smiled a smile from here to Sunday. "Oh, thank you, Jimmy. I always wanted a rhododendron bush planted just there. Here's $5.00 for digging that hole."

他一直挖，直到坑已經非常深，土堆得非常高。他嘆了口氣：“我太累了。我不能再挖了。”然後他開始搜索。

但是除了一塊伍菲的骨頭，他什麼也沒找到。吉米所得到的僅僅是一塊狗啃的骨頭，一個坑還有一大堆土，而不是財寶。他想：“那個海盜欺騙了我!”
