President Barack Obama has been named Time's Person of the Year.
美國總統奧巴馬被《時代》週刊評選爲2012年度風雲人物。
Managing Richard Stengel unveiled the magazine's choice on Wednesday's "Today." He said it was remarkable that the president won two terms with over 50 percent of the popular vote as a Democrat. He also noted that Obama took office in an economic crisis, and credited him with creating a new political "alignment like Ronald Reagan did forty years ago."
主編理查德·斯坦格爾在週三的早間新聞節目Today上宣佈了《時代》週刊的選擇。他表示，在兩次總統大選中，來自民主黨的奧巴馬都以超過50%的選民支持率贏得任期，這是非常卓越的表現。他還表示，奧巴馬在經濟危機的局勢下就職實屬不易，並盛讚奧巴馬創造了新的政治結盟，“就像40年前羅納德·里根總統所做的那樣”。

He will take the oath on Jan. 20 as the first Democrat in more than 75 years to get a majority of the popular vote twice. Only five other Presidents have done that in all of U.S. history.

Time's Person of the Year is an annual tradition. Last year, the magazine chose "the protestor" in recognition of demonstrations all over the world, including Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street and the anarchists in Greece.

Time named the eight finalists for 2012's Person of the Year on Tuesday. They included: Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for her crusade for better girls’ education; Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi; Bill and Hillary Clinton, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, and the three scientists who discovered the Higgs Boson particle.
