茶話會第411期:你的時間夠用嗎?

大家好，歡迎來到《可可茶話會》，上期給大家分享了關於時間的三個表達，分別是：Time is ticking away/cut it fine/at the eleventh hour，今天我們繼續學習幾個表示時間緊迫的短語。

醫生們爭分奪秒地搶救他的生命。短語against the clock表示“爭分奪秒地”，如果你爲了準時完成一項任務，一直掐着表在做，就可以用上這個短語，和不同的動詞搭配。例句中使用的是race（賽跑）。Doctors raced against the clock to save his life. 醫生們爭分奪秒地搶救他的生命。They are working hard against the clock to translate the novel. 他們正在分秒必爭地趕緊翻譯那本小說。

2. The plan must be worked out today. I'm pressed for time.
這個計劃今天必須做出來，我時間緊迫。遇到時間非常緊迫的情況，我們可能會說“時間有限”，老外會常說，I'm pressed for time. Pressed我們都知道有“壓迫、緊迫”的意思，pressed for time是固定搭配，意思是“時間緊迫”。另外，這句話也表示“我的時間安排得很緊”。The plan must be worked out today. I'm pressed for time. 這個計劃今天必須做出來，我時間緊迫。

3. Quick,quick,we are running out of time.
Run out of是固定短語搭配，表示“用光，耗盡”。Run out of money就是用光了錢。例如：They ran out of money and had to abandon the project.（他們沒有錢了，只得放棄這個項目。）Run out of time則表示“時間不夠了，沒有時間了”。Quick, quick, we are running out of time. 快點兒，我們快沒時間了。還有一個表達是sth．is running out，表示“某物馬上就要沒有了”，因而快沒時間了也可以表達爲time is running out。舉個例子：We must act quickly because time is running out.時間已經不多了，所以我們必須動作快些。
