The survey on public populism, which is conducted by the Survey Center of People's Tribune and aims to "get a grasp of China's public tendency of populism", lists eight core populist characteristics such as patriotic complex, dissatisfaction with the government as well as six non-core characteristics such as conservatism and interest in politics.

The survey found that 49.5 percent of the interviewees have the populist tendency, and among them 31.3 percent have markedly clear tendency toward populism. The survey also found that populist characteristics have certain relationships with education, consumption levels and occupation. For example, people who have more education are less likely to be a populist.

人民論壇問卷調查中心這次的公衆民粹化調查，旨在通過愛國情結、對政府的不滿程度等8個核心特徵和政治認知興趣等6個非核心特徵，判斷中國公民的民粹化傾向。

此次調查顯示，49.5%的受訪者擁有民粹化傾向。其中，有31.3%的受訪者表現出了非常明顯的民粹化傾向。此次調查還發現，民粹化特徵與教育、消費水平和職業存在一定的關聯。例如，學歷越高，憤青越少。
