《初代吸血鬼》S1E12：酒量要HOLD住

小寶貝們，好久不見，甚是想念，不知道大家有沒有想念英語君陪伴大家一起看劇的日子呢？

1.Hot 迷人，火辣！

Whoever she was,she was smoking hot.

雖然我不知道她是誰，但她一定很迷人。

How's the weather today?It's hot!(今天天氣怎樣？今天很熱呢！）難道Hot只能用來形容熱嗎？No！來看看Hot的另外的解釋：

a.Someone that is extremely good looking but not like cute,more like sexy.

b.Something  that is in some way attractive.

請看例句：

Oh my god!That guy on the skate board is smoking hot! 

喔，我的天啊，那個滑滑板的男生好迷人！

下次可以盡情用“Hot”讚美你的男神女神了！

2.Beside oneself  情緒失控，發狂

Niklaus was beside himself in your absence.

你不在的時候，Niklaus都快瘋了。

Klaus和小馬哥（Marcel）一直是“好基友”，小馬哥去參軍時，Klaus悵然若失，變得情緒失控，所以當小馬哥回來的時候，大家可以想象Klaus的心情哈~請看例句：

（1）He was beside himself with great joy when he got married with his beloved girl.

他懷着巨大的喜悅和他的心愛的女孩結婚。

(2)When Rose returned to the parking lot, she discovered that her brand new car had a big dent. Someone had hit her vehicle and not left a note. Now she had to call her insurance company, and then arrange for repairs.  The more she thought about it, the more furious she became. She was beside herself with anger.

羅斯回到停車場的時候發現她新買的車凹下去了一大塊。有人撞了她的車，也沒留張字條就溜走了。現在，羅斯不得不給自己的保險公司打電話，然後還要安排修車的事兒。她越想越氣，簡直是氣得發狂。

3.Hold one's liquor 酒量好

The prodigal son has finally learned to hold his liquor.

回頭的浪子總算把酒量給練出來了。

“酒量好”英文怎麼說？——Hold one’s liquor 酒量好.請看例句：

She is very proud of his ability in holding his liquor.

她爲自己的酒量好而自豪。

但是，英語君的酒量就不行了。

I can't hold my liquor very well./  I don't have a high tolerance for alcohol.

我的酒量不行。

4.Keep sb on sb's toes. 保持警覺

Until then,I say we keep them on their toes.

但在那之前，我們還是給她們點警告。

Keep sb on sb's toes直譯爲“用腳尖站立”,比喻隨時候命,一觸即發的狀態,或者說很有精神、腦子一直在轉的狀態.而Keep my juices flowing也有同樣意思。請看例句：

They should keep them on their toes uitil their enemies are vanquished.

他們應該一直保持警覺性，直到他們的敵人被消滅。

5.Be sick of 厭惡

I am so sick of self-serving narcissists.

我真的受夠了這種自私的自戀狂。

be sick表示病了,做謂語. 如 " She is sick now" , "They were sick last week."

"sick" 本身是形容詞， 有多種意思.  最通常的是：

生病： 請參看上面 "be sick"

讓人噁心: "What he said was sick."（那位同學肯定是說了什麼污言穢語了…）

讓人厭煩， 無法忍受: "I'm sick of her rudeness."（我真是無法忍受她的粗魯。）

有些年輕人還喜歡用來表示“cool”： "Iphone X  is sick!"（Iphone X很炫酷呀！）
